Using the power of AI in automated cell culture

Successful drug discovery relies heavily on automation technologies to reduce errors and ensure assay reproducibility.
However, setting up end-to-end automation comes with challenges, including lengthy set-up processes that require significant expertise. To address these issues, we developed a novel automation protocol for three common biological workflows (iPSC, intestinal organoids, and spheroids) on the new CellXpress.ai Automated Cell Culture System—an end-to-end automation solution with a powerful, single-software environment to control the entire system—to automate the entire cell culture process. Workflows that are common in the lab were modularized into “phases” allowing users ease and flexibility in designing their own protocols. In addition, AI-assisted automated decision-making function was used to inform users or to trigger the next step in the cell culture process.
