American Heritage School uses the SpectraMax M5e reader to conduct scientific research

The Challenge

At the American Heritage School, located in Plantation, Florida, students used a SpectraMax® M5e to conduct scientific research during their first Annual Summer Science Program. The microplate reader made it possible for the students to perform higher level research using GFP-labeled C. elegans, and Alcanivorax borkumensis. Additionally, they ran assays such as the Bradford assay and measured biofilm production.

Students presented their findings at the Florida Junior Academy of Sciences and the Junior Science Engineering and Humanities Symposium.
